UAE’s offer to Zelensky in light of differences with the US.
Al-Monitor, citing Arabi 21, wrote in a report referring to the UAE’s role in the reconstruction of Ukraine after the war: “The UAE is providing President Volodymyr Zelensky with an economic lifeline in the wake of the disputes between the US and Ukraine and Abu Dhabi’s rivalry with Riyadh.”
The report continued: “Abu Dhabi hosted Zelensky on February 16 when US and Russian representatives were meeting in Riyadh. This timing was not accidental and came after the UAE’s efforts to host the U.S.-Russia summit.
Zelensky left the UAE with a trade agreement with Abu Dhabi. The Ukrainian ambassador to the UAE and Bahrain also said, “This comprehensive economic agreement can attract Emirati companies to implement various projects, especially in the reconstruction of Ukraine.”
He emphasized that the UAE will play a decisive role in Ukraine after the country joins the European Union.
