UAE’s response to Syria’s political and military developments.
According to Al-Mayadeen, Anwar Gargash, the diplomatic advisor to the president of the UAE, said in response to the developments in Syria: “Non-state parties should not be allowed to exploit the political vacuum.”
He added: “Defense and military institutions should not come under the control of armed groups.”
Gargash added: “The current developments in Syria indicate a political failure. The most important cause of our concern about the developments in this country is extremism and terrorism.”
He said: “Syrian sovereignty remains under threat, and this is the main source of our concerns.”
