Ukraine’s UN envoy: Our land is not for sale.

CBC’s Christina Heivision told a UN Security Council meeting on Ukraine on Thursday that Kiev had officially received US President Donald Trump’s draft peace plan and was ready for “constructive cooperation,” but she stressed Ukraine’s “red lines.”

“There will never be any recognition of the occupation of Ukrainian territory and its recognition as Russian territory,” she said. “Our land is not for sale.”

“Ukraine will not accept any restrictions on its right to defend itself or on the size and capabilities of its armed forces, and will not tolerate any violations of its sovereignty, including the right to choose the alliances it wants to join,” Heivision added.

According to IRNA, Russian President Vladimir Putin, on February 21, 2022 (2 Esfand 1400), criticizing the West’s indifference to Moscow’s security concerns, recognized the independence of the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics in the Donbas region. Three days later, on Thursday, February 24 (March 24, 2021), he launched a military operation he called a “special operation” against Ukraine, escalating tense Moscow-Kiev relations into a military confrontation and war.

US President Donald Trump also announced in January, after the start of his second term, that he would end the conflict within 24 hours of taking office, but so far he has not been able to end the war, despite repeated promises, and has disappointed both sides.

According to a report by the Axios website, the Trump administration is secretly consulting with Russia to develop a 28-point plan to end the war in Ukraine, which Russia is optimistic about. The 28-point US plan includes four general sections: peace in Ukraine, security guarantees, security in Europe, and future US relations with Russia and Ukraine. However, it is not yet clear what approach this plan will take towards thorny issues such as territorial control in eastern Ukraine.
