UN: 124,000 Palestinians displaced in recent days

PNN – The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) announced that about 124,000 Palestinians have been displaced in Gaza in recent days.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) said that the families were “without shelter, without security and with nowhere to go” and fled due to relentless Israeli bombardments.

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) stated: This is a human disaster. The siege must end.

Earlier, a spokesman for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) announced that the UN would reduce its presence in Gaza after five UNRWA staff members were killed during a renewed Israeli offensive.

An UNRWA spokesperson said: The UN Secretary-General has made the difficult decision to reduce the organization’s role in Gaza, even as humanitarian needs have increased and our concerns about the protection of civilians have intensified.

The United Nations has more than 13,000 personnel in the Gaza Strip, the majority of who are Palestinians and work in important jobs such as doctors, nurses, drivers, and other similar jobs.

The Israeli regime admits that 78,000 Israeli soldiers and security forces have been injured since October 7, 2023.

UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric told reporters in New York on Monday local time: In the past week, Israel has carried out devastating attacks on Gaza that have killed hundreds of civilians, including UN forces, and Israel has also prevented humanitarian aid from entering the Gaza Strip since early March.

A UN spokesperson stated: As a result, the UN Secretary-General has made the difficult decision to reduce the organization’s presence in Gaza despite increasing humanitarian needs and our heightened concern for the protection of civilians.

Israel launched a devastating war against the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023, following Operation Al-Aqsa Storm by Palestinian resistance groups led by Hamas, which has so far left more than 60,000 martyrs and tens of thousands injured.

The war has not only caused widespread destruction of the region’s infrastructure, including hospitals, schools, and water and electricity supply networks, but has also led to the displacement of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians, severe food shortages, and an unprecedented humanitarian crisis. Images released from Gaza show the complete destruction of residential neighborhoods, long lines of people waiting to receive the meager humanitarian aid, and hospitals unable to provide medical services due to a lack of medicine and fuel.

After weeks of intensive mediation talks involving Qatar, Egypt, and the United States, a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas was implemented. The agreement included a cessation of hostilities and a prisoner exchange; but Tel Aviv, violating its commitments, has resumed massive attacks against the oppressed Palestinian people in Gaza.

The clashes have intensified over the past few days, and the number of Palestinian martyrs is rapidly increasing.

The Gaza Health Ministry has announced that since March 18, after the start of a new round of Israeli attacks on Gaza, 730 Palestinians have been martyred in the region and 1,367 others have been injured.

Including these martyrs, the number of martyrs in Gaza since October 7, 2023, has reached 50,083, and the number of injured has reached 113,408.
