UN: Gaza is the hungriest place in the world.
Continuing the UN’s opposition to the deceptive plan of the US and the Zionist regime, claiming to distribute aid in the southern Gaza Strip, Sigrid Kaag, the UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, announced yesterday at the Security Council meeting held on the 600th day of the Gaza war: Israel must stop its devastating attacks on civilians and infrastructure in the Gaza Strip, and we will not participate in Israel’s mechanism for delivering aid to the people of Gaza, which violates humanitarian principles.
Death is everywhere among the people of Gaza
The UN official emphasized: The Palestinians in the Gaza Strip have been facing continuous Israeli aggression for more than a year and a half and have lost all hope. In Gaza, instead of saying goodbye to each other until tomorrow, the Palestinians say goodbye to see you in heaven. Death is everywhere with the people of Gaza, and there is no life left for them, no hope. The people of Gaza deserve more than survival, they deserve a vibrant future.
He added: “Since the resumption of Israeli attacks on Gaza, the terrible lives of the people of this strip have been further destroyed, and it is really enough to issue statements for a ceasefire, and practical action must be taken to achieve this. When we talk to people like ourselves in Gaza, we realize that words like empathy, solidarity, and support have lost their meaning.”
Palestinians should not be treated like numbers
Sigrid Kaag said: We should not get used to the number of dead and injured in Gaza, we are talking about girls, mothers, and children whose lives have been shattered. They all had a name, a future, a drea,m and a lost wish for themselves. Civilians in the Gaza Strip are being directly targeted and are facing the specter of famine.
While the Zionist regime claims to have opened the way for humanitarian aid to enter through the American institution called the “Gaza Humanitarian Foundation”, the UN official stated: The aid that has entered Gaza is not at all enough to meet the minimum needs of more than 2 million people who are struggling with famine, and it is as if a small boat has been sent to save a large ship that has sunk at sea.
He also expressed his concern about the dangerous actions of the Zionist regime in the occupied West Bank, including the annexation of this area through the expansion of settlements, land grabbing, and settler violence against Palestinians, and warned: “If this situation does not change, implementing the two-state solution will be practically impossible.”
