“UN Official Refrains from Labeling Gaza Crisis as Genocide”

“UN Official Refrains from Labeling Gaza Crisis as Genocide”

According to Al Jazeera, “Navi Pillai”, the head of the United Nations Committee of Inquiry on Palestine, presented his report on occupied Palestine to the United Nations Human Rights Council.

Pillay announced: Our report is presented on behalf of the United Nations and focuses on the events of October 7 and beyond. Israel obstructed the investigation and prevented access to Gaza and the West Bank.

The head of the United Nations investigation committee on Palestine added: We are shocked by the human suffering and demand an immediate ceasefire. We are shocked by the events of October 7 and the events that followed. Palestinians have been suffering from the occupation of their land for decades. The events of the 7th of October and the events that followed led to pressure on the United Nations staff.

He added: We will continue our activities. Our investigation is not over and violations of the law occur every day. The occupation is the reason for all the events that happen in the land of Palestine.

The head of the United Nations investigation committee on Palestine said: I have requested to expand my mission. The United Nations is fully cooperating with me. We have a memorandum of understanding with the Prosecutor General of the International Criminal Court.

Also, in his speech, Pillai cited the lack of access to Gaza, the West Bank, and the occupied territories as the reason for not completing the investigations of this committee.

The head of the United Nations investigation committee on Palestine said: The International Criminal Court will rely on our report. Access to captives and freed persons depends on Israel.

Continuing to present the report of this committee, Pillai said, regardless of the killing of thousands of Palestinian women, children and elderly people living in Gaza by Zionist criminals: We cannot use the term “mass genocide” regarding the events in Gaza, because there are conditions and criteria for this issue.
