Unfinished Sidenotes of a Meeting; “Netanyahu Was More of a Decorator for Trump”
According to Al-Mayadeen, the Hebrew-language website Walla admitted that yesterday’s meeting between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US President Donald Trump could be considered the most unsuccessful meeting.
The report continued, saying that Netanyahu left Washington empty-handed; this is while negotiations between Iran and the US are about to begin. Walla added that Netanyahu found himself in a position with Trump that he did not expect. Trump repeatedly threw complex political, security and economic balls at Netanyahu, but he was unable to answer them.
Barak Ravid also wrote on this website: Netanyahu found himself in difficult and humiliating conditions; he seemed to be playing only the role of decor for the US president.
The Israeli media agency also reported that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s visit to Washington remained incomplete and ended suspiciously and abruptly. The Zionist media outlet reported that Netanyahu’s meeting with US President Donald Trump at the White House made no progress in the negotiations and did not lead to a reduction in customs tariffs.
The Zionist newspaper Israel Hume also added that the shock and anger on the faces of the Israeli delegation in Washington were clearly visible.
The Times of Israel magazine called Netanyahu’s visit to the White House disappointing. The magazine described the visit as disappointing, citing Trump’s claim of direct negotiations between Iran and the United States.
New Demour, a spokesman for Yair Lapid, the head of the Zionist opposition cabinet, also reacted to the incompleteness of the visit, saying: “The Israeli media must tell the people the truth as it is; this was one of the most humiliating meetings for an Israeli prime minister in history, which led to Israel’s humiliation in front of live cameras and a complete defeat for Israel, and not even customs tariffs were reduced.”
He added: “Trump only used Netanyahu as a decorative vase to legitimize negotiations with Iran.”
