According to the report of Pak Sahafat International News Agency, Hans Grundberg, the UN special envoy for Yemen affairs who is in Riyadh, met with Saudi officials and ambassadors of the member countries of the Security Council.

Al-Khobar Al-Alimani news site reported that Grundberg first visited the Saudi ambassador to Yemen, Mohammad Al-Jaber, and “examined the efforts made to reach an agreement between the conflicting parties in Yemen, which includes measures to improve the living conditions in Yemen.”

Saudi Arabia should take a step towards peace.

The UN forces, which are responsible for the inspection and clearance of ships bound for Yemen, in many cases, without any reason, do not issue the necessary permission to enter Yemen, and this issue leads to the intensification of the blockade of Yemen.

This UN official further emphasized that the payment of government employees’ salaries, a permanent ceasefire throughout Yemen and the resumption of the comprehensive political process under the supervision of the United Nations are ways to improve the situation of the people of this country.

Grundberg met with the ambassadors of five member countries of the Security Council in Saudi Arabia. In this context, he said: In this difficult time, Yemen needs regional and international support so that it can move on the path of peace and sustainable development.

While welcoming the recent visit of the National Salvation Government of Yemen delegation to Riyadh, he emphasized that efforts should be increased at the regional and international level to meet the demands of the people of this country.

The special envoy of the United Nations had already visited China and during that, he demanded the country’s mediation in the war of the Saudi-Emirati coalition against Yemen.

During the meeting with Chinese officials, Grundberg asked Beijing to mediate between Riyadh and Sana’a in the case of Yemen; as before, he played such a role between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Saudi Arabia.
