PNN – The United Nations announced that Israeli forces attacked an aid vehicle with UN markings in Gaza on Tuesday evening, in an operation coordinated with the Israeli army.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, Stephane Dujarric, the spokesman of the United Nations, told reporters on Wednesday local time: A clearly identifiable UN aid vehicle, part of a convoy whose presence was fully coordinated with the [Israeli army], was hit 10 times by Israeli military fire. Israeli army bullets also hit the windshield of this car.
The attack took place near the Gaza Strip and the two UN staff inside the vehicle were not injured.
Earlier, a senior UN official said: Israel’s mass evacuation orders have increased threats to the UN and humanitarian workers.
The UN Under-Secretary-General for Safety and Security, Giles Mishad, said on Tuesday local time about the dire security situation for humanitarian activists and UN staff in Gaza: The UN is determined to remain in Gaza to provide vital aid to Palestinian civilians.
