United Nations: The residents of the Gaza Strip constitute 80% of the world’s famine-stricken population

PNN – The United Nations special rapporteur on the right to food announced in a report that around December 2023, the residents of the Gaza Strip will make up 80% of the world’s famine-stricken population, and in the history of wars, there is no record of a nation suffering from famine and hunger at this speed.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, citing Anatolia news agency, “Michael Fakhri” said in his report to the United Nations General Assembly: Starving the residents of the Gaza Strip started on the second day of the war.

He added: The limited aid that entered the Gaza Strip was mostly sent to the central and southern areas, while the Israeli regime had ordered the residents of the Gaza Strip to move to the northern areas.

Fakhri added: Around December 2023, residents of the Gaza Strip will make up 80% of the world’s famine-stricken population.

The United Nations special rapporteur on the right to food stated: In the history of wars, there is no record of a nation suffering from famine and hunger at this speed, and what happened to 2.3 million Palestinians in this region is unprecedented.

Fakhri said: The history of deliberate famines against the Palestinian nation dates back to 76 years ago, that is, the time of the establishment (fake regime) of Israel and the displacement of the Palestinian nation from its land, and since then Israel has turned to the policy of starving the Palestinian nation.

He added: Since the beginning of the war in the Gaza Strip, he has received direct reports about the destruction of the food system of the Gaza Strip, of which the destruction of the agricultural and fishing infrastructure is an example.

Stephane Dujarric emphasized the vital role of the United Nations and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for the Near East (UNRWA) as the “backbone, heart, lungs and arms” of humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip.

Emphasizing the necessity of guaranteeing Palestinians access to humanitarian aid from the Israeli regime “as the occupying power in the Gaza Strip,” Dujarric said: We are in constant contact with our Israeli counterparts on how to improve the relief system.

The Israeli regime has started a devastating war against the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023. During this period, 70% of the houses and infrastructures in the Gaza Strip have been severely damaged, and the miserable siege and severe humanitarian crisis, along with the unprecedented famine and hunger, threaten the lives of the residents of this area.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health has announced in its latest statistics that the number of Palestinian martyrs has increased to 40,939 and the number of injured has increased to 94,616.

At the same time, the Israeli regime has admitted that after about 11 months of war, it has not yet been able to achieve its goals of this war, which is to destroy the Hamas movement and return the Zionist prisoners from the Gaza Strip.
