United Nations: The situation in Gaza is as dire as ever

PNN – The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) has warned that the situation in the Gaza Strip is as dire as ever, with thousands of children hospitalized due to acute malnutrition.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, Louise Wattridge, UNRWA’s senior official in Gaza, told reporters that the suffering in Gaza still continues. Gaza now has the highest number of child amputees in the world, many of whom are operated on without anesthesia.

This UN official added: It was reported that 30 people were killed during last night’s Israeli attacks on the Nusirat refugee camp, which led to horrific scenes of people searching for their loved ones under the rubble.

This UNRWA official emphasized that a large number of patients with treatable diseases die due to the lack of medicine and equipment.

He noted that an estimated 26,000 people were seriously injured during the war.

This official of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees emphasized that medical equipment is severely lacking and running out, and that insulin stocks in Gaza are low and the shipment of insulin syringes has been stopped at the entrance to Gaza.

Babies born prematurely die at an alarming rate due to lack of ventilation, nutrition and other supplies, Wattridge continued.

He added that the general population of Gaza is undernourished and thousands of children are hospitalized due to acute malnutrition. The situation is as dire as ever and what people need most are peace and the ability to return home.
