United Nations: We are holding the “Role of Women in Islam” meeting focusing on the situation of Afghan women

Pak Sahafat – The Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations says that the organization is planning to hold a meeting on the “role of women in Islam” focusing on the situation of Afghan women.

According to the Pak Sahafat news agency, “Amina Mohammad”, the Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations, said to reporters without giving more details that a meeting titled “The Role of Women in Islam” will be held with attention and focus on the situation of women and girls in Afghanistan.

He added: The international community should put pressure on the Taliban government to ensure women’s education and work rights in Afghanistan.

This UN official, after visiting Afghanistan for several days and meeting with senior Taliban officials, said that progress has been made in the field of women’s rights in Afghanistan, but a lot of work still needs to be done in this regard.

Amina Mohammad also emphasized that ways should be sought to remove the Taliban’s restrictions against women in Afghanistan.

Earlier, the President of the United Nations General Assembly, Dennis Francis, said to reporters, referring to the education of women and girls in Afghanistan, “I ask the Afghan authorities to reconsider this policy and allow girls to go to school and study so that they can to play a role in the development of their society”.
