Tel Aviv’s goals for the war with Hezbollah were initially raised to the point of destroying the party’s military power, but gradually the level of these goals decreased to the point that the Chief of Staff of the Zionist army announced that the war could be stopped.
But what failures have caused the Zionist regime to retreat from its goals in Lebanon? In terms of strategy, Tel Aviv has suffered a major blow. Over the past year, the Galilee region in the north of the occupied territories, which has great strategic and security importance, has become an insecure area. This is while the region has witnessed greater security stability over the past two decades.
The Galilee has many heights and mountains that allow the establishment of military and surveillance bases in terms of terrain and tactics, but this area has now become a place for successive attacks by Hezbollah forces, and 28 occupied settlements have been evacuated from it.
The current conflicts in the region have also destroyed the military foundation of the Zionist regime, which is not to engage in long-term wars and to rely on short wars to achieve immediate goals.
In terms of military, the Zionist army has lost 92 of its soldiers in the month since the start of the ground invasion of southern Lebanon, and 750 others have been injured. 38 Merkava tanks have been destroyed. Of course, these statistics are not accurate and have been published under severe censorship. The aforementioned figures do not include the damage sustained on the home front, and in addition, 12,000 Zionist soldiers have been hospitalized since the beginning of the war.
