Uruguayan Foreign Ministry expresses concern over worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza

PNN – The Uruguayan Foreign Ministry expressed concern in a statement about the worsening humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, the Uruguayan Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement on the institution’s website, writing: The Government of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay reiterates its serious concern regarding the continuing deterioration of the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, where 100% of the population is currently at risk of famine, and condemns in particular the armed attacks against civilians who were moving towards the humanitarian aid distribution centers designated by Israel.

The report added: According to the United Nations, these incidents occur almost daily and over the past month, since the outsourcing of humanitarian assistance services, more than 400 people have lost their lives, which is completely unacceptable.

Another part of the statement states: This worrying situation reinforces the urgency of ensuring free, safe and unrestricted access to humanitarian aid. Therefore, Uruguay once again calls on the Israeli authorities to guarantee humanitarian access for the Gaza population through the United Nations, in accordance with the principles of international humanitarian law.

The statement concludes by adding: The Uruguayan government reiterates its urgent call on the parties to resume negotiations to achieve a sustainable and permanent ceasefire, as well as the release of all hostages.
