US Department of Justice: The FBI has failed to deal with child sexual abuse.
According to the Associated Press, the internal watchdog of the US Department of Justice announced in its latest report that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) of this country, even after the controversial case of “Larry Nassar” who was accused of “harassing and sexually abusing American girls, is still reporting the allegations.” Regarding the sexual abuse of children, the government institutions and social organizations are short.
In 2021, the Inspector General of the US Department of Justice announced that the FBI had learned that Lori Nassar, the former doctor of the US girls’ gymnastics team, had been accused of harassing team members in 2015, but did not take any action, and due to the FBI’s inattention, this The doctor continued to sexually abuse American girls for months.
FBI Director Christopher Wray condemned the behavior of the agency’s agents in the US Congress and emphasized that “what happened is unacceptable” and promised that this behavior will not be repeated.
Even though after the Nassar case, the FBI updated its policies and training to improve how officers respond to allegations of child sexual abuse, a new Justice Department report shows that those guidelines and training are not being followed in practice.
