PNN – US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard said the Iranian government has suffered heavy blows in the US and Israeli military campaign, but remains “untouched”.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, she told a US Senate hearing that the US intelligence community assesses that the Iranian government is “intact.” He claimed that it has been “greatly weakened” due to attacks on senior officials and Tehran’s military capabilities.
She claimed that if the Iranian government survives the war, it will “begin a multi-year effort to rebuild its missile and drone programs.”
Since late February, the United States and Israel have launched widespread attacks against military and residential areas in Iran, in one of which the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, was martyred.
So far, more than 1,300 people have been martyred across the country following attacks by Washington and the Zionist regime.
In response to the war imposed by Washington and the Tel Aviv regime, the Iranian armed forces launched Operation “True Promise 4” against the positions of the Zionist regime in the occupied territories and American military centers in West Asia, inflicting heavy losses on them in several waves of these operations.
Gabbard also claimed that Iran’s nuclear enrichment program was destroyed in the attacks of June last year and that the United States has not seen any efforts by Tehran to rebuild its enrichment capabilities since then.
Israel launched airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear and military facilities, as well as residential areas, on June 13. The United States subsequently bombed three key facilities linked to Tehran’s nuclear program.
While US officials have claimed that Washington’s attacks on Tehran’s nuclear facilities destroyed Iran’s nuclear program, several sources familiar with an initial Washington intelligence assessment said that the US military’s attacks on three Iranian nuclear sites did not destroy the main components of the country’s nuclear program and likely set it back only for a few months.
The US president has repeatedly claimed to have completely destroyed Iran’s nuclear program, but in a clear reversal, he has cited one of the reasons for the recent military campaign, which began in late February, as an attempt to prevent Tehran from obtaining nuclear weapons. Iran has repeatedly stated that its nuclear program is peaceful and that it has no intention of building an atomic bomb.
Gabbard also said Wednesday that Iran and its “proxies” remain capable of attacking US interests and those of its allies in the Middle East.
