US draft resolution on Ukraine war to be presented on Monday.
According to TASS, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio wrote in a message on the social network “X” that Washington will submit its draft resolution proposal to the UN Security Council on February 24 to resolve the war in Ukraine.
Rubio described the US-proposed resolution as a “turning point” and said that the draft resolution will be submitted to the UN on Monday and that all members should support it to chart a path to peace.
He also added that US President Donald Trump is “committed to ending the war in Ukraine.”
The US State Department statement attached to Rubio’s message said: “Trump is committed to ending the war in Russia and Ukraine and to a resolution that leads to lasting peace, not just a temporary halt. This war has gone on for far too long and has imposed a terrible cost on Ukraine and Russia.”
The statement also said: “By supporting this resolution, we affirm that this war is terrible, that the United Nations can help end it, and that peace is possible. We strongly believe that now is the time to commit to ending the war and that this is our opportunity to accelerate the path to peace. We call on all members of the United Nations to join the United States in this serious action.”
