US media: Is Maduro planning to leave Venezuela?

This media pressure on the Venezuelan government comes at a time when the country’s authorities, especially in recent weeks, have emphasized their determination to confront the “colonial threat” against the country’s sovereignty and violations of international law.

Donald Trump had previously said that the United States would soon begin ground operations to stop drug traffickers in Venezuela. He also said that all airspace in and around Venezuela should be considered closed.

In response to these statements, the Venezuelan government announced that it demands respect for its airspace and will not accept foreign orders or threats.

On the other hand, Maduro, in response to Washington’s provocative actions, said in military uniform and alongside members of the government and commanders of the country’s national armed forces: “We must defend every inch of this land against any imperialist threat or aggression, whenever and wherever necessary.” He also announced in a message yesterday (December 29) that the goal of the US actions in the Caribbean Sea is “to dominate Venezuela’s vast oil reserves through deadly military action against our territory, people and institutions.”
