Kellogg also announced a peace plan consisting of 22 points that had been formulated in London, adding: This plan has brought us into conversations that have never been held between the parties before. He said, indicating that the United States intends to enter the next stage of this process: We want to reach a real peace plan.
The US envoy also announced a very heavy package of sanctions against Russia that some members of the US Senate have prepared. According to him, the package includes tariffs on Russian energy that could increase by up to 500 percent. At the same time, he expressed hope that this level of punishment will not be implemented.
In another part of the conversation, Kellogg, referring to the situation in Kiev, claimed: The Ukrainians are in a good situation now, but we ask them not to complicate the situation and inflame the anger of the various parties with ill-considered words.
He also described the statements of Dmitry Medvedev, the deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council, about the possibility of the Ukrainian crisis escalating into World War III as “very stupid.”
Kellogg concluded by addressing Moscow: I warn the Russians that they will not need President Trump’s patience; that is exactly what they are doing now, and it is a big mistake.
He also revealed that the Russians had promised to send an official note to Washington within a week, but after 8 days, the note has not yet reached the American side.
