US President announces construction of new “Trump-class” warships.
Trump announced to reporters at his personal residence in Florida that the United States has begun construction of new warships for the country’s navy, called the “Trump Class.”
He pointed out that the first two ships of this class have already entered the construction phase, and stated, “In total, there are plans to build 25 warships.”
The US President described these ships as the fastest, largest, and 100 times more powerful than any warship built to date.
Trump also stated that the US government will allocate $26 billion for the construction of these ships, emphasizing that the new ships will be capable of carrying nuclear weapons, and in addition, the construction of between 12 and 15 new submarines is also planned.
In another part of his speech, he referred to the country’s piracy by seizing tankers carrying Venezuelan oil, saying: “The oil from the tankers seized off the coast of Venezuela will be made available to the US for sale or strategic storage.”
Trump added that the US will also keep the tankers seized off the coast of Venezuela.
The US president also claimed once again that the targets of Washington’s attacks on boats in Latin America are only drug traffickers.
