The US presidential election debate between Kamala Harris, the Democratic candidate and vice president, and Donald Trump, the former US president and Republican candidate, was held in Philadelphia and hosted by NBC News, according to the Reuters news agency. The debate took place while the election campaigns of the two parties had only managed to finalize this debate. It’s not clear whether another debate will be held before the American elections on November 5.
Kamala Harris, in response to the first question raised by the presenter about the cost of living in America, said, “I am from the middle class of society. My plan is based on providing $15,000 in small business tax breaks. Additionally, I will introduce the largest tax relief for families with student children. If Trump wins, he will do the same things as in the past and cut taxes for the rich.”
Donald Trump responded, saying, “I will definitely impose customs tariffs on goods imported from other countries. They will eventually have to pay back what America has done to the world. My administration took billions of dollars from China through tariffs, which are still in place (under the Biden administration).”
Kamala Harris also said, “Trump has inappropriate economic policies. The top 16 economists who have won the Nobel Prize in Economics criticized Trump’s economic plan and emphasized that his policies could cause an economic recession in the United States in 2025. The truth, American people, is that Trump has no plan to offer you because he is more interested in protecting himself than looking out for you.”
