PNN – The U.S. State Department announced that its State and Treasury Departments have removed Abu Muhammad al-Julani from the list of “Specially Designated Global Terrorists.”

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, Tommy Piggott, Deputy Spokesperson for the U.S. State Department, stated that on November 6, the UN Security Council adopted a resolution, initiated by the United States, to remove the names of Ahmad al-Shara and Anas Hassan Hatab, the Syrian Minister of Interior, from the sanctions list.

He added that today, the U.S. Secretary of State decided to delist Ahmad al-Shara, also known as Muhammad al-Julani, from the Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT) list under Executive Order 13224. Additionally, the U.S. Treasury Department will remove Anas Hassan Hatab from the SDGT list in accordance with the same executive order, including subsequent amendments.
