According to the report of Pakistan News Network, citing Al Jazeera, the US Department of Homeland Security announced that it has ended Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Yemeni refugees.
The ministry added that the decision to revoke the temporary protection status for Yemeni refugees will come into effect 60 days after the publication of the notice in the Federal Official Gazette.
Temporary Protected Status (TPS) is a designation from the U.S. government that allows people from certain countries with unsafe conditions to temporarily reside and work in the United States.
Before Yemen, the United States had also suspended temporary protected status for thousands of Afghan refugees.
Countries such as Syria, Lebanon, Sudan, Somalia, and several others have been selected by the United States to grant temporary protected status to refugees.
