US sanctions against Israeli Finance Minister lifted.
According to Al Jazeera, Axios, citing informed sources, announced that Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich is scheduled to travel to Washington next week to meet with his American counterpart.
The sources added that Smotrich’s visit to Washington next week will take place after the US government lifted sanctions against him during the Biden administration.
The US lifted sanctions on Smotrich after the Trump administration took office, and he contacted his American counterpart and also met with Steve Whittaker, the US representative for the Middle East.
A few months ago, US Democratic lawmakers called on Biden to sanction Itamar Ben-Giver and Smotrich, two extremist ministers in Netanyahu’s cabinet, for promoting violence in the West Bank.
