US Secretary of War: Ukraine’s survival is in danger.
According to Reuters, US Secretary of War Lloyd Austin, while acknowledging that Ukraine’s survival is in danger, claimed that Washington is still committed to Kyiv.
Austin, who chaired the meeting of the “contact group for the defense of Ukraine” at the Ramstein military base in Germany, said: Today, the survival of Ukraine and the security of the United States are at risk.
He added: Today I am leaving here (Germany) while I am fully determined to continue supporting and providing aid and ammunition from America (to Ukraine). The issue is the survival of Ukraine and its independence, and this issue has the meaning of honor and security for America. Neither Ukraine nor we have time to lose.
Austin, who was on this trip for the first time after his cancer treatment, did not mention how the US would continue to help Ukraine without allocating funds!
A senior official of the US Department of War, who did not want to be named, said: I think our allies (Washington) are very aware of our budget conditions and of course, the situation in Ukraine, and the reason for this is the shortages on our part that can provide aid to them. We are not Kyiv.
Austin’s comments came as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy today asked his allies to provide Ukraine with more air defense systems in light of Russia’s massive attacks this month.
Also, Mike Johnson, the Republican speaker of the US House of Representatives, still refused to vote on the approval of the $60 billion aid bill to Ukraine, while the White House is struggling to find ways to help and send weapons to Ukraine.
