PNN – The US Department of War announced that its forces in the Asia-Pacific region seized and inspected the tanker Veronica 3.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network from Anatoli Agency, the US Department of War’s statement on the X social network stated: Last night, US forces in the Indo-Pacific Command (INDOPACOM) area of responsibility conducted a right-of-way, maritime stop, and boarding operation on the Veronica 3 vessel without incident.

The ship attempted to violate the restrictions imposed by US President Donald Trump, hoping to hide from view. We tracked it from the Caribbean Sea to the Indian Ocean, closed the gap, and stopped it.

The US Department of War announced that illegal actors and their proxies will not be allowed freedom of movement in the maritime domain.

The inspection is the latest in a series of similar operations by US forces. The US had previously inspected an oil tanker called the Aquila 2 in the same area.

According to data from the Open Sanctions database, the tanker Veronica 3 is on the US Treasury Department’s sanctions list.

The ministry claimed that the tanker was sanctioned for “illegal transportation” of Iranian oil on behalf of the country’s National Oil Company and the tanker’s China Concord Petroleum Company.

The Panamanian-flagged tanker, built in 2006 and previously known as the Symphonic, Veronica and White Nova, is linked to Shanghai Futures Ship Management, a company that Washington sanctioned in December 2024 for its activities in the Iranian oil sector.
