US Senator: Trump is complicit in Netanyahu’s crimes in Gaza by sending weapons.
The Democratic lawmaker said the Trump administration is already complicit in Netanyahu’s ethnic cleansing of Gaza and that Trump wants to send him another $6.4 billion in offensive weapons.
“Our priority should be ending the war and returning the prisoners, not giving Netanyahu more taxpayer dollars to bomb starving Gaza,” U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen of Maryland wrote in a post on the social media platform X on Sunday night, referring to the new U.S. arms shipments to the United States.
In a controversial move, the Trump administration has notified Congress of its plans to sell Israel $6 billion in military equipment, a move that signals a strengthening of U.S. support for Tel Aviv amid growing international isolation of the Washington ally over its ongoing war in Gaza.
According to the sources, the deal includes the sale of 30 Apache attack helicopters worth $3.8 billion, which would almost double Israel’s current capacity. Also included in the package are 3,200 armored assault vehicles worth $1.9 billion.
The deal comes as US diplomatic efforts to end the nearly two-year war between Israel and Hamas have stalled and the recent Israeli attack on Hamas leaders in Doha, Qatar, has been met with negative reactions and widespread condemnation from US regional allies.
