US State Department: Iran was not aware of the exact timing of the Hamas attack and its extent

Pak Sahafat – Matthew (Matt) Miller, the spokesman of the US State Department, announced in the wake of efforts to drag Iran into a new war between Palestine and Israel following the surprise attacks of the resistance forces: We have no information to show that Iran directed or planned Hamas attacks against Israel, and Iran was not aware of the exact timing and scope of what happened.

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency, Matthew Miller, the spokesperson of the US Department of State, on Tuesday, October 18, 2023, in response to a question about Iran’s role in Hamas’s attack on Israel, added: Iran probably knew that Hamas was planning an operation against Israel, but was not aware of the exact timing or extent of what happened.

At the same time, Miller said: Iran has been a long-term supporter of Hamas and has provided financial and equipment assistance to it. But we have yet to see any indication that they supported or directed this attack. It is still too early to draw conclusions in this regard. We will keep an eye out for new information in the coming days and weeks.

The spokesperson of the US State Department about the requests of some Republican senators in the Congress to freeze again the 6 billion dollars of freed Iranian money that is now in accounts in Qatar, referring to a quote from Mike Pompeo, the Secretary of State of the Donald Trump administration, regarding the creation of this account said on November 2, 2018: It was the previous US government that first allowed this Iranian money to be deposited.

Rejecting the claim that Iran can use this money for destructive activities, he said: 100% of the revenue that Iran receives from the sale of crude oil is kept in foreign accounts and Iran can only use it for humanitarian trade or bilateral trade of non-sanctioned goods and services.

By making claims against the Islamic Republic of Iran, Miller claimed: Iran has always provided financial support to terrorism. They have always sponsored malicious activities in the region and that is why we have always taken action to hold them accountable. But this money (Iran’s freed money in Qatar) can only be used for humanitarian purposes and not a cent of it has been spent yet.

The spokesperson of the US State Department once again claimed: Iran has provided financial support to terrorism before these financial accounts were created and will undoubtedly continue to support terrorism. We have strict monitoring and the ability to block it at any time.

In response to an allegation about America’s reaction to Iran’s complicity in Hamas attacks against Israel and encouraging its partners to introduce the IRGC as a terrorist organization, Miller claimed: We think that other countries should introduce the IRGC as a terrorist organization. They have supported terrorism all over the world. Iran has comprehensively supported Hamas, but we will continue to gather evidence and information regarding Iran’s role in the recent attack by Hamas.

Sullivan, in response to whether Iran’s long support of Hamas is not a sufficient reason to block the 6 billion dollars of this country’s freed money? He said: Not even one dollar of this money has been spent.

The American newspaper Washington Post claimed in a report on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 local time: Hamas, which carried out Saturday’s surprise attack on Israel, has received military training and logistical assistance from Iran for at least a year, as well as tens of millions of dollars in weapons purchases, intelligence officials said.
