US: Time is limited to reach a deal with Iran.
According to Al Jazeera, while Iran and the United States have been holding indirect talks in recent weeks, Washington officials continue to ratchet up their rhetoric against Tehran.
Accordingly, Dorothy Shea, the US ambassador to the United Nations, reiterated the Trump administration’s position on Iran’s nuclear program at a Security Council meeting and warned that diplomacy also has a time limit.
She stated that the US prefers to solve through negotiations, but time is limited. If Iran does not give up its nuclear program, it must be held accountable.
While Iran has always emphasized that its nuclear program is pursued solely for peaceful purposes, Israel, a close ally of Washington, has long accused Tehran of trying to acquire nuclear weapons and is itself known to have an undeclared nuclear arsenal.
In an interview with Time magazine last week, Trump expressed optimism about the possibility of reaching an agreement, but warned: “If the negotiations fail, the United States will take the lead in military action against Iran.”
