Vance’s attack on Wall Street; Trump’s vice president denies “Russian threat”!
According to Russia Today, J.D. Vance, Vice President of US President Donald Trump, says that the Wall Street Journal distorted his statements on Ukraine and Russia.
In a report titled “Vance Threatened Sanctions, Military Action to Force Putin to Deal with Ukraine,” the Wall Street Journal wrote that Trump’s Vice President threatened Russian President Vladimir Putin with sanctions and possible military action if he did not reach a peace agreement with Ukraine and guarantee its independence.
Following the Wall Street report, the Kremlin demanded clarification on Vance’s statements. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters yesterday that Vance’s statements were new to Moscow, adding: “These (words) are new elements of the US position; we have not heard such statements before.”
In response to the report, Vance said that Trump would bring peace to the region by ending the war in Ukraine and that the Wall Street Journal had distorted his statements.
He wrote in “X”: As we have always said, American forces should never be exposed to harm unless it is to advance American interests and security. The fact that the Wall Street Journal distorted my words in the way it did in this report is ridiculous but not surprising!
William Martin, Vance’s media manager, also criticized the report, calling it “pure fake news” and, releasing the transcript of his interview with the Wall Street Journal, claimed that the US vice president had not threatened Russia.
Vance said in the interview that Trump would consider many options in talks with Russia and Ukraine. He added that there were “economic pressure tools and military leverage,” but did not mention any specific actions.
The interview transcript states: “There is a lot we can do. But fundamentally, I think the president wants the talks with both Putin and Zelensky to be productive and fruitful.
