Vehicle plows into crowded Christmas market in Germany, killing at least 5 and injuring 200.
At least one person has been killed after a car plowed into a crowd at a Christmas market in Magdeburg, eastern Germany, according to Sky News.
The Depa news agency also reported that the driver was arrested in the eastern German city of Magdeburg after the incident.
Public broadcaster MDR said at least one person had been killed.
Matthias Schoppe, a spokesman for the regional government, called the incident a terrorist attack.
German police also wrote on X-net that a “large-scale operation” was underway at the market.
The market has been closed, according to the report, and more reports are expected.
Magdeburg, west of Berlin, is the capital of the state of Saxony-Anhalt and has a population of around 240,000.
