Wall Street Journal: Hamas rejected Israel’s request for a ceasefire agreement.

The Wall Street Journal reported that the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, rejected Israel’s request for a 7-day halt to the war in exchange for the release of about 40 prisoners and said that negotiations could only begin if Israel first stopped its attacks on Gaza.

This report was published in the context that Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the political office of Hamas, has arrived in Cairo, the capital of Egypt, to meet with the head of the Egyptian intelligence agency.

Egyptian sources told the Wall Street Journal that Israel insisted that all the women and children held captive be released in exchange for a week-long pause in the fighting and humanitarian aid being allowed to enter Gaza.

The Wall Street Journal wrote that for the first time, these negotiations included the representation of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad. Both Hamas and Islamic Jihad insisted that Israel stop the attack before negotiations on a possible deal begin.

In addition, the representatives of the Palestinian resistance demanded the release of all Palestinian prisoners in exchange for the release of more than 100 Israeli prisoners in Gaza.
