PNN – The Wall Street Journal has claimed that the plan Trump is considering would require the presence of units of US special operations forces inside Iran for several days to a week, and that the risks of such an operation are very high.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network; The American newspaper “Wall Street Journal” (close to Zionist circles) claimed in an exclusive report that Trump is considering a special military operation to seize enriched uranium reserves inside Iran.
The Wall Street Journal, citing informed American officials, claimed that Trump is considering a military operation to steal and remove nearly 1,000 pounds (nearly 500 kilos) of 60 percent enriched uranium from Iran, a complex and risky mission that would likely require the presence of American forces inside Iran for several days or more.
US officials said that Trump has not yet made a decision on this matter because the risk of such an operation inside Iran is high and Trump is currently assessing the potential risks of such an operation to US forces.
But according to American officials, Trump generally welcomes the idea because it could help achieve his main goal of “preventing Iran from developing a nuclear weapon” and provide him with an achievement that would help him get out of a war with Iran.
At the same time, Trump has encouraged his advisers to persuade Tehran to surrender the enriched material as part of a negotiated deal. According to a person familiar with Trump’s thinking, he has “been clear that the Iranians cannot hold onto this material” and has talked about seizing it by force if diplomatic efforts fail.
Mediators including Pakistan, Turkey and Egypt have facilitated indirect contacts, although Washington and Tehran have yet to hold direct talks.
Before the joint US-Israeli airstrikes last June (the 12-day war), Iran was believed to have more than 400 kilograms of uranium enriched above 60 percent and nearly 200 kilograms of uranium enriched to 20 percent. Rafael Grossi, director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency, said that the bulk of this stockpile was likely stored at sites in Isfahan and Natanz.
Military experts warn that any attempt to seize this uranium would be extremely complex. US forces would likely face Iranian air defenses and drones as they secured the sites. Then, specialized teams would have to find and safely transport the radioactive material, stored in dozens of cylinders, using protective barrels.
The operation could last days or even a week, carrying the risk of Iranian retaliation and potentially extending the conflict beyond the four- to six-week timeframe set by the Trump administration. While Trump has stressed that he does not want a protracted war, officials say the Pentagon is preparing several options, including deploying additional troops and rapid reaction units to the region.
