PNN – The Americans, who are unwilling to provide any guarantees to stop the occupiers’ aggression against Lebanon, are first emphasizing the disarmament of Hezbollah in response to Lebanon’s response to the proposed document presented by Tom Barak.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, following new developments regarding the US proposed document for Lebanon, which has been presented for the past few weeks, and in which Washington’s most prominent request was the rapid disarmament of the resistance, and Lebanon had also provided its response, Al-Akhbar newspaper examined the details of the US response to Lebanon’s response in its editorial and wrote: Lebanon is today at a decisive moment in its political history.
America’s threatening response to the Lebanese
Meanwhile, calls to create consensual and salvage formulas to prevent Lebanon from plunging into complete chaos have intensified, and at the same time, disagreements over whether the Lebanese card or the American card takes precedence persist.
Previously, the speaker of the Lebanese parliament received the official and final US response to Lebanon’s response last Friday evening, and the Americans emphasized that this response cannot be amended or discussed, and Beirut must either accept it or wait for the consequences.
In this regard, prominent sources reported to Al-Akhbar newspaper that the document by US envoy Tom Barak has the same principles as the Lebanese document, but arranges the items in reverse order and gives priority to the disarmament clause over all other items. The US response document is based on the premise that Hezbollah’s disarmament is the principle and, in fact, a prerequisite for all other provisions and then negotiations with the Zionist regime will begin under the supervision of the (so-called) guarantor countries of the ceasefire agreement to resolve the disputed issues and determine the borders between Lebanon, occupied Palestine, and Syria. Following that, talks will be held on stopping the aggression of the Zionist regime and Lebanon, the regime’s withdrawal from occupied areas in southern Lebanon, the release of Lebanese prisoners, the reconstruction of the country, and helping it overcome the economic crisis.

Controversial meeting at Baabda Palace; Hezbollah will keep its weapons.
With the presentation of this document by the American envoy, Lebanon finds itself facing two narratives: One, which was discussed by President Joseph Aoun on Army Day, dealt with the ministerial statement, and the other, which concerns the US-imposed document and agenda that considers the interests of the Zionist regime outside the ceasefire agreement.
Therefore, the important question that is occupying the minds of Lebanese circles today is what agenda will the government consider, and will Lebanon’s own agenda be implemented or the American agenda?
Joseph Aoun’s difficult situation in the face of American pressure and domestic considerations
Informed sources told Al-Akhbar newspaper that Hezbollah received signals through meetings held away from the media with the president and Prime Minister Nawaf Salam that the government has no intention of setting a deadline for the disarmament of the resistance, but rather emphasizes the content of the ministerial statement regarding the government’s monopoly on weapons.
The sources added: Several formulas are on the table that aim to reduce the level of tension in the country, including transferring the arms file to the Supreme Defense Council. However, some parties have warned Joseph Aoun about this formula for various reasons, emphasizing that it places responsibility solely on his shoulders and deprives him of any room for maneuver.
According to these reports, the contacts in recent hours have focused on two directions: one between the President, the Prime Minister and the Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, who are seeking a collective agreement and opinion, and the other between the Presidential Palace and Hezbollah. Al-Akhbar was informed that people close to Joseph Aoun met with Hezbollah officials and discussed the proposed scenarios.
Hezbollah’s clear positions against American conspiracies
Information indicates that Hezbollah is ready to present its vision in the government. However, contacts are also ongoing between political figures and former Lebanese prime ministers, including Najib Mikati, to reach a formula that combines the requirements of sovereignty and national security.
Informed sources reported that Hezbollah has reiterated its commitment to Resolution 1701, saying that all evidence proves that the parties that claimed to be guarantors of the ceasefire agreement have not fulfilled their responsibilities and are now not committed to providing any guarantees in exchange for the disarmament of the resistance. So who can guarantee that after the resistance is disarmed, the Zionist enemy will not invade Lebanon?
Hezbollah also emphasized the principles set by current Lebanese President Joseph Aoun regarding the withdrawal of the Zionists, the release of Lebanese prisoners, the cessation of aggression against Lebanon, and the beginning of the country’s reconstruction, and declared that the weapons of resistance are an internal issue in Lebanon that requires dialogue and a strategy that defends the country against external threats.
