Wave of frustration among American “X” users over the inefficiency of officials.
Los Angeles, California, has been burning uncontrollably for several days in the middle of the cold and at the beginning of the winter season, leaving thousands homeless and causing extensive damage. American media have reported that at least 16 people have died in this terrible fire and that the death toll is likely to rise.
So far, efforts to contain five fires from the Pacific coast to Pasadena have been unsuccessful. It is even expected that this fire, claimed to have been caused by a power line caught in strong winds, will continue in the coming days.
Regarding the extent of damage and cost estimates, it is also worth remembering that the current fires have covered more than 16,000 hectares of forests, residential areas, and urban infrastructure. The destruction of hundreds of homes and the displacement of thousands of people are only part of the damage caused by this disaster.
According to preliminary forecasts by Ecuador, the damage caused by these fires is estimated at between 135 and 150 billion dollars. These fires have affected areas where some of the most expensive real estate in the United States is located.
In such circumstances, the American people are worried about the continuation of this situation and are disappointed with the authorities in their country; a matter that is evident in their statements in cyberspace, especially the social network X.
In a post, journalist and reporter Nick Surtor spoke about the demand of Americans to remove Mayor Karen Bass, quoting a Los Angeles radio station. He emphasized that “these fires have truly woken up Californians!”
The post continued: Our city is abandoned in crisis and water supplies are running low. Billions of taxpayer dollars have been misappropriated and many lives have been lost… yet Mayor Bass has been absent, choosing to travel abroad.
