What are the goals of the US foreign minister’s periodic trip to West Asia?

Anthony Blinken, the US Secretary of State, on Thursday evening of last week, for the umpteenth time since the beginning of the Al-Aqsa storm operation on October 15, began his regular trip to the West Asia region.

Before leaving for West Asia on the Greek island of Crete, Blinken met with the Prime Minister of this country and said that the purpose of this trip was to prevent the escalation of tensions in the region. According to the Secretary of State of the United States, the possibility of escalation of the war in northern occupied Palestine with Hezbollah is one of the potential concerns of the country’s authorities, which has been under internal and external pressure due to its support for the Tel Aviv regime in the 93-day war against Gaza.

The US Secretary of State met and talked with his counterpart Hakan Fidan and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Turkey. In these meetings, in addition to the issue of the war against Gaza and efforts to prevent the spread of conflicts and their spread to the region, Turkey’s final agreement with Sweden’s joining NATO and the sale of American F-16 fighter jets to Turkey were discussed.

During his visit to Jordan today, which started early in the morning, Blinken met and talked with Abdullah II, the King of Jordan, and Hussein bin Abdullah, the Crown Prince of this country. During his trip to Jordan, he visited the center of the International Relief and Employment Agency for Palestinian refugees known as “UNRWA” in Amman and examined the way of sending humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.
