PNN – The trip of “Ahmad al-Shara” nicknamed Abu Mohammad al-Jolani, the head of the transitional period of Syria, to Saudi Arabia has attracted the attention of political analysts and observers.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, Al-Arabi Al-Jadeed news site wrote in a report: Last Wednesday, Al-Jolani assumed the presidency of Syria’s transitional period, and this Sunday he will leave for Saudi Arabia on his first foreign trip in this position, and the relations between the two countries are witnessing a diplomatic development in the field of bilateral relations.
According to al-Arabi al-Jadeed, “Salman bin Abdulaziz” and “Mohammed bin Salman” sent a congratulatory message to Al-Jolani, and the first destination of the trip of “Assad Al-Shibani”, the foreign minister of the transitional government of Syria, was Saudi Arabia in early January. On January 12, Riyadh hosted a meeting of Arab and European foreign ministers in which Al-Shibani participated.
This website added: On January 24, Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan traveled to Damascus at the head of a delegation and met Al-Shara and Al-Shibani.
Based on this report, al-Jolani told the Turkish media on January 22 that his first foreign trip would be to Saudi Arabia or Türkiye.
“Mohammed Jazar”, a political affairs analyst, also told Al-Arabi Al-Jadeed: Damascus has made a lot of calculations on relations with Saudi Arabia, especially in political and economic terms, as well as Riyadh’s role in the reconstruction of Syria.
He added: Damascus is also trying to balance Türkiye’s influence in Syria.
