What is the story behind Netanyahu’s dismissal of the Shin Bet chief?
According to Al-Arabiya, Israeli media reported Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s new decision regarding the head of the Shin Bet.
Israeli Army Radio claimed that Netanyahu had canceled the appointment of Eli Shervit as head of the Shin Bet because he wrote an article against Trump.
Israeli Channel 14 TV, citing a source close to Netanyahu, announced that Netanyahu had not yet identified the identity of the candidate to head the Shin Bet.
On the other hand, Yair Lapid, the head of the Israeli opposition, reacted to Benjamin Netanyahu’s withdrawal from the appointment of Eli Shervit as head of the Shin Bet intelligence agency, saying: “This is a blow to Israel’s security. This is not a position that can be appointed and then withdrawn from due to some controversy about the person in question.”
Lapid also noted that the October 7 cabinet has lost the trust of the Zionists.
This is while last night, Republican US Senator Yandix Graham expressed concern over the appointment of Eli Shervit as the new head of the Israeli intelligence and domestic security agency (Shabak), describing it as a serious problem.
Graham stated in his remarks that Shervit’s previous remarks about US President Donald Trump could lead to unnecessary tensions at a critical juncture.
The US senator advised the Israeli cabinet to be more careful in its choices and correct the current course.
