White House: Iraqi Prime Minister will visit Washington soon

PNN – The White House announced in a statement that US President Joe Biden will soon welcome Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammad Shia al-Sudani in Washington on April 15.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network from Türkiye’s Anatolia news agency, the statement of the White House states: Joe Biden and Mohammad Shia al-Sudani will discuss bilateral and regional issues and the current situation of the international coalition mission against ISIS.

The White House added: In this meeting, the latest developments related to the framework of the strategic agreement, which includes the US military presence in Iraq, will be discussed.

According to this report, it is expected that the two sides will primarily focus on the future of the US military presence in Iraq and the possible scenarios of withdrawing from Iraq.

Earlier, Subhan Al-Molla Jayad, the adviser to the Iraqi Prime Minister, announced that Al-Sudani will visit Washington next April, but he did not mention the exact date.

This is while Mohammad Shia al-Sudani met with American National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan on the sidelines of the 54th Davos Economic Summit in Switzerland.

In this meeting, it was emphasized on the beginning of the work of the bilateral committee to review the presence of the international coalition in Iraq, which was agreed upon during the 2018 visit of the Iraqi Minister of Defense to the United States.

In this meeting, the US President’s invitation to the Iraqi Prime Minister to visit Washington and the agreement to set a specific date for this visit were discussed.
