PNN – The spokesman of the White House stated that there is no attempt by the US to normalize relations with the Taliban or to recognize it, considering the increase in international relations with the current government of Afghanistan.
According to Pakistan News Network’s report from the White House website, John Kirby, the strategic affairs coordinator of the American National Security Council, said on Tuesday: Officially, we have repeatedly stated that if they want to be considered legitimate rulers, they must fulfill all the commitments they made.

Kirby said about the United Nations plan to hold this conference: I will allow the Secretary General to speak for the meetings held by the United Nations. Nothing has changed about our policy towards the Taliban.
The second meeting of representatives of the countries on Afghanistan affairs at the invitation of the UN Secretary General is scheduled to be held on February 18-19 in Doha, Qatar, which focuses on the implementation of the provisions of UN Security Council Resolution 2721.
The Taliban government has opposed a part of this resolution on appointing a special representative for diplomacy with the Taliban and establishing an inclusive government.
The Taliban government was not invited to the first Doha meeting in May 2023, but Taliban officials say that they have been invited to the upcoming meeting. Before the first meeting in Doha, the US State Department stated that recognizing the Taliban is not on its agenda.
