PNN – Just hours after the end of talks between Iran and the United States in Oman, and despite claims by American officials that they were serious about the talks, the country’s president signed a decree for secondary sanctions.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, citing Al Jazeera, the White House announced that US President Donald Trump has signed an executive order imposing secondary sanctions against Iran.
This action comes hours after the US Treasury Department imposed new sanctions on Iran’s oil sector.
Reuters news agency announced on Friday evening: Today’s sanctions were imposed on 2 individuals and 15 entities involved in activities related to Iran’s oil sector.
The announcement of new cruel sanctions and Washington’s current hostile stance against Tehran comes just hours after a new round of nuclear talks between Iran and the United States began in Muscat, mediated by Oman, and ended.
In this round of indirect nuclear talks, the Iranian and American negotiating teams conveyed a set of their opinions, considerations, and approaches to each other through Omani Foreign Minister Badr Busaidi.
The text of the executive order states that it is necessary and appropriate that additional tariffs be imposed on imports from any country that directly or indirectly purchases, imports, or obtains any goods or services from Iran.
According to this executive order, imposing an additional customs tariff based on the value of the goods, for example, 25 percent, on imported goods allows the United States to impose additional tariffs on imports from any country that directly or indirectly purchases, imports, or obtains any goods or services from Iran.
