White House: We are looking for a ceasefire longer than a week

PNN – The spokesman of the White House announced on Tuesday evening that Washington was looking for a ceasefire longer than a week in Gaza so that the soldiers could be released and more aid could be brought to Gaza.

According to Pakistan News Network, the White House spokesman said on Tuesday that the United States was looking for a humanitarian ceasefire lasting longer than a week in order to return the prisoners and bring more aid to Gaza.

He added: “Negotiations to reach an agreement for the release of the hostages in Gaza are still ongoing.”

Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken started his trip to the Middle East, and his goal of this trip is to reach an agreement for a ceasefire in Gaza and of course the release of Israeli and American prisoners. This is Blinken’s fifth visit to the region since Operation Storm Al-Aqsa began.

According to the plan put forward by American, Israeli, Egyptian and Qatari officials in Paris last month for a cease-fire in Gaza, it is planned to stop the war for six weeks and in return, some of the Palestinian and Israeli prisoners will be mutually freed.

Israeli, American, Egyptian and Qatari negotiators recently reached an agreement in Paris on a framework to stop the war and release other Israeli prisoners. A plan that the US foreign minister described as “strong and convincing” in a joint press conference with his Qatari counterpart in Washington.

“Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim”, the foreign minister of Qatar, also pointed out that the negotiations regarding the Palestinian and Israeli prisoners have improved compared to the previous weeks, and said: “The current stage of the negotiations can lead to a permanent ceasefire in the future.”

Israel TV also reported that the Paris meeting has ended and “progress has been made in the negotiations.” In this meeting, the plan to release prisoners was reviewed in several stages. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office also called the negotiations “constructive”, but at the same time said that there are still “big gaps”.
