WHO: Gaza’s healthcare system needs at least $10 billion to rebuild.

According to Al Jazeera, since the start of the Gaza war in October 2023, with the aim of ethnic cleansing of Gaza and genocide of Palestinians, the Zionist regime has considered every civilian location as a legitimate target. For this reason, hospitals and medical centers have been widely bombed by the regime, and more than a thousand medical staff have sacrificed their lives in the service of the people.

Accordingly, with increasing hopes for an end to the Gaza war due to the parties reaching a peace agreement, international organizations are presenting their estimates of the destruction of the strip at the hands of the Zionist military.

The World Health Organization, criticizing the destruction of the healthcare sector in Gaza, announced the need for huge investments in the strip for reconstruction.

According to the estimates of this UN-affiliated organization, at least $10 billion in investment is now needed to rebuild Gaza’s healthcare infrastructure. This amount of budget should be allocated to this area in the next 4 to 7 years.

Rick Peppercorn, WHO Representative for Palestine, said: “Our investment needs in Gaza to rebuild the devastated health sector are enormous. Our initial estimates indicated that the cost of rebuilding Gaza’s health sector would be more than $3 billion for the first 18 months, but this was later estimated at $10 billion over the next 5 to 7 years.”
