Why did the Israeli army retreat from Khan Yunis?
Youssef Hamdan, the representative of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement in Algeria, discussed the dimensions of the withdrawal of the Zionist army from Khan Yunis in a memorandum for Mehr.
The sudden departure of the occupiers from Khan Yunis after the ambush of the “Al-Zaneh” area, during which the resistance trapped the occupying forces and inflicted heavy losses on them, is the declaration of the defeat and failure of the occupiers at the end of the mission of Khan Yunis to reach the commanders of Hamas or return them—captives, followed by an attack on Rafah.
The occupiers thought that by staying in Khan Yunis and putting pressure on the field command center they envisioned for the Hamas movement in this area, they would put pressure on the Hamas movement. The exploits of the resistance in Khan Yunis and all areas of the Gaza Strip highlighted the strength of the Hamas movement and its military wing in recovering in areas where the occupiers thought they had finished their operations very quickly.
This issue also showed that the Hamas movement and its military wing can engage in unique attrition operations against the occupiers and turn the scenario of staying in Gaza into a nightmare that will steal sleep from the eyes of their political and military levels. The occupiers think that their withdrawal shortly before the new round of talks will reduce the value of the possible results of reaching an agreement that would oblige them to withdraw from Gaza.
We emphasize that if it were not for the stability of our nation and the blows of the resistance, despite the unwillingness of the occupiers, aid would not have reached northern Gaza within 2 days, and the occupiers would not have withdrawn their brigades and armies from Gaza quickly against their will.
We are sure that the political battle is going on as well and with the same strength as the field battle management. The occupiers have no choice but to agree to the agreement; Otherwise, we know how to force the occupiers and their partners to agree to an honorable agreement; An agreement that will lead to the cessation of aggression, the arrival of aid to Gaza at the same time as the occupiers leave it, and the release of our captives from the occupiers’ prisons. Hamas talks from the position of power, its hands are on the trigger and our fighters are present in the field.
