Why did the Zionist regime’s efforts in southern Lebanon fail?
According to Al Jazeera, the southern Lebanese front line has been the scene of military clashes in recent days as part of the Israeli army’s ground invasion of Lebanon, where the strategies and tactics of the regime’s occupation have been on display. On the other hand, the Zionist military’s every attempt to penetrate the ground has been met with stubborn resistance and precise ambushes by the resistance.
In recent days, the Zionist army has made efforts to advance in various axes of the southern Lebanese border areas:
The first axis: the area under the operations of the 146th Division of the Zionist army, from Naqoura in the west to Maruheen in the east. Here, the Zionist infantry forces attempted to penetrate the southern areas of the villages of Sheheen and Al-Jubain, and the reconnaissance force also attempted to advance towards Wadi Hamul.
The second axis: the area of operations of the 36th Division, from Ramia in the west to Ramis in the east (including Aita Al-Shaab). In this area, Hezbollah is attacking Zionist gatherings in Aita Al-Shaab and Aitrun.
Axis 3: Division 91’s operational area, from Blida in the south to Houla in the north, where the Israeli army has limited itself to controlling fire on the eastern outskirts of the villages without making any new advances.
Axis 4: Division 98’s operational area, from Marbakah in the south to the occupied village of Ghajar in the northeast. The Israeli infantry forces were advancing towards Kafr Qala.
Axis 5: Division 210’s operational area, from Ghajar to the Shebaa farms, where Hezbollah fighters repelled the Israeli regime’s advance attempts in Kafr Shuba and Shebaa.
Ground maneuver
Meanwhile, Hezbollah announced the latest developments in the ground clashes in southern Lebanon. According to Hezbollah, since the start of the maneuver, the Israeli army has killed more than 95 people and wounded 900.
The statement also reported the destruction of 42 Merkava tanks, 4 military bulldozers, two Hummer vehicles, a personnel carrier, and two Hermes 450 and Hermes 900 drones. While this figure does not include damage to occupied bases and settlements.
Hezbollah has resisted the Zionist regime’s attempts to penetrate border villages and continues direct clashes in some areas, while the regime’s army is trying to create an image of psychological warfare by releasing videos of destroyed houses exploding and using bombing methods.
Videos have also been released showing explosions in areas such as Mays al-Jabal, Aitrun, Yarin and al-Dhuhayrah, indicating an escalation of clashes in the region.
Flexible Defense
Military and strategic expert Mounir Shehadeh points out that the Zionist regime has used five military divisions with about 70,000 soldiers, equipped with various weapons, including hundreds of Merkava tanks and F-16, F-35, and F-15 reconnaissance aircraft, in its aggression against Lebanon, but despite these forces, it has not been able to break through the Lebanese borders, because the Lebanese resistance has strongly resisted them and prevented the realization of the goal of creating a buffer zone five kilometers deep in southern Lebanon.
Shehadeh told Al Jazeera that the Zionist military has made attempts to advance from different parts, including the western part in Naqoura, the central part in Aita al-Shaab and the eastern part, but they have not been successful in any of them.
He added that after more than three days of renewed efforts in Sahl al-Khayyam, especially by being targeted by Kornet missiles and other weapons of the resistance, the 98th and 91st Divisions suffered heavy losses.
The expert explains that due to these losses, the Zionist regime has been forced to bomb residential neighborhoods and destroy them, not only to prevent them from losing the possibility of settling there, but also to complicate the return of residents after the end of the war and make these areas uninhabitable. This action is being taken within the framework of the Zionist regime’s “scorched earth” policy.
