PNN – In support of Israel, Germany is trying to enter as a “third party” in South Africa’s complaint in The Hague about the genocide in Gaza.
According to the Pakistan News Network, while more than 10,000 Palestinian children have been martyred in Gaza, the German government says that “Israel is defending itself”.
German government spokesman Stefan Hebstreit announced the country’s commitment to the UN Genocide Convention (adopted in 1948), but said that Germany defends Israel in the case of South Africa’s complaint to the International Court of Justice about the genocide in Gaza.
According to him, Germany, as one of the member states, asked the court to agree to its request to be added to this case as a “third party”.
The Israeli newspaper Yediot Aharonot called Germany’s plan to enter the case “an unusual move” and wrote that the International Court of Justice should respond to Germany’s request in writing or orally.
Last week, Netanyahu’s spokesman said that South Africa is playing the role of “devil’s advocate” by filing a complaint with The Hague, but Berlin’s efforts to help Tel Aviv have caused some human rights activists to warn Germany of complicity in war crimes in Gaza.
