Will the Knesset be dissolved on the day of doom for Netanyahu’s coalition?

PNN – While all Hebrew-language media outlets unanimously devoted their front pages to the fate of Benjamin Netanyahu’s collapsing coalition and his political future, Netanyahu, after a few minutes of appearing in his court hearing, called for it to be ended, citing illness.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, the Yisrael Hayom newspaper reported that after it became clear that Netanyahu’s opponents had reached a consensus on dissolving the Knesset, the Prime Minister requested to leave the session, citing health problems and illness.

A few minutes ago, the Ynet news site announced in a news report that a fateful meeting between representatives of the Haredi movement and coalition leader Ovir Katz is being held. The cabinet secretary and the Knesset legal advisor are also present at the meeting.

However, hours before that, Hebrew-language media announced that the leaders of the opposition parties and movements in the coalition had reached an agreement on Wednesday to put the Knesset dissolution bill to a vote in its open chamber, and this would be done today.

This decision was made unanimously and is binding on all currents and parties present. Furthermore, this is supposed to be done in coordination between all groups, with the primary goal being to overthrow the Netanyahu cabinet.

The Israeli television network also reported that the opposition is carefully considering the possibility of protesters joining Netanyahu in his coalition, because if the law does not pass the first reading this time, there will be no possibility of dissolving the Knesset for the next six months.

It is worth noting that these two reasons and differences arose within the Haredi movement after the US ambassador to the Zionist regime held extensive meetings and contacts with most of the leaders of the far-right movement in Netanyahu’s coalition in the past week, with the aim of preventing the overthrow of his cabinet, and it has been claimed that this was done at the request of Donald Trump.

According to the Knesset’s internal law, even if the bill is approved in the first reading tonight, it must still be referred to a committee in the Knesset headed by the coalition leader, who is himself from the Likud party, and it is expected that there the coalition will make every effort to delay its approval for as long as possible.

After approval by this Knesset committee, it will be sent to the Knesset General Assembly for approval in three sessions and final approval for the dissolution of the Knesset.
