Before Russia’s proposal for direct talks with Ukraine, Witkoff said in an interview that President Trump has given both sides a deadline: without direct negotiations and if these negotiations are not held quickly, then, in his opinion, America must withdraw from this war, and it does not matter what this action means, it will simply no longer intervene.
The special envoy also said about the Russia-Ukraine talks that the main topics are issues related to Russian-controlled territories, the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, Kyiv’s use of the Dnieper River and its access to the Black Sea.
