Yemeni Foreign Ministry: US and UK are seeking to militarize the Red Sea.
Yemen’s Foreign Ministry stated on Wednesday evening, stressing its commitment to the safety and security of international shipping in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
The statement said that Yemen pursues a policy based on respecting international law and protecting sea lanes within the framework of the principles of neighborliness and collective security of regional countries. The Sanaa government’s Foreign Ministry also stressed that strengthening maritime security depends on the withdrawal of foreign military fleets from the region, as their presence is illegitimate.
In this stance, Sanaa accused the US and Britain of militarizing the Red Sea and turning it into a battlefield, adding that the two countries are seeking to create coalitions that have nothing to do with the interests of the nations of the region.
The Yemeni Foreign Ministry also noted that its operations in the Red Sea only target the interests of the Zionist enemy and are being used as a lever of pressure to stop Israel’s crimes in Gaza.
This statement comes after Israeli warplanes bombed targets in Yemen’s Hodeidah port 12 times yesterday evening.
