Yemenis close Terminal 1 at Ben Gurion Airport.

Yemenis close Terminal 1 at Ben Gurion Airport.

According to Haaretz, Terminal 1 of Ben Gurion International Airport in Tel Aviv has been closed due to the complete suspension of flights by foreign airlines, following increased security concerns and a significant decrease in flight traffic from the terminal.

According to the report, a missile attack by Yemeni forces on the vicinity of the airport on May 4, during which a missile landed near the airport facilities, was cited as the main reason for the suspension of international flights. The attack injured several people and disrupted the airport’s operations for several days.

Following the attack, some foreign airlines suspended their flights to occupied Palestine, and even despite the temporary reopening, a large part of these companies decided to sever cooperation with Ben Gurion Airport, which led to a significant reduction in international flights from Terminal 1 and ultimately the complete closure of this part of the airport.

According to the newspaper, easyJet, Ryanair, and Wizz Air will not resume their flights to Israel until the end of the summer.

The airport management has announced that all international flights have been temporarily transferred to Terminal 3, and a specific time for the resumption of activities at Terminal 1 has not yet been announced. Airport officials have emphasized that the reopening of this terminal will depend on improved security conditions and assurances from airlines that the threat has decreased.
